Who we are
James Nicholson Training Services Ltd, registered in England and Wales, number 14871545, trading from 264 High Street, Dorking, Surrey RH4 1QT. We are the data controller for the information described here. You can reach us at hello@thebusinessownerssociety.co.uk.
What we collect
- When you ask for a free map scan: your business name, postcode, trade and email address.
- When you become a member: your name, business details, contact details, and the business figures you choose to enter. Card details are handled by our payment provider — we never see or store them.
- When you use the site: standard server logs and, if you consent, analytics about which pages are read.
Why we hold it, and on what basis
- To run your membership and provide what you have paid for — performance of a contract.
- To send you the map you asked for, and the weekly reminders you opted into — consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
- To keep proper business records and meet our tax obligations — legal obligation.
Who we share it with
Our payment provider, our email provider, and our hosting provider. Nobody else. We do not sell data and we do not pass your details to other businesses. They are Stripe (payments), Postmark (email), Twilio (text messages), Railway and IONOS (hosting), Google Analytics (site statistics) and DataForSEO (map scans).
How long we keep it
Membership records for seven years after you leave, because HMRC requires it. Scan requests for twelve months. Marketing consent until you withdraw it.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of everything we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email hello@thebusinessownerssociety.co.uk and we will respond within one month. If you are not satisfied you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
Cookies
We use Google Analytics to count which pages are read; it sets cookies named _ga and _ga_*. Logged-in members and staff are not tracked. The members’ app at app.thebusinessownerssociety.co.uk sets one session cookie to keep you signed in.
