Marketing for electricians who are already busy enough

Being busy and being profitable are not the same thing. Two jobs a week to fix the difference.

Most electricians we speak to are not short of work. They are short of the right work — the jobs with a decent margin, from customers who do not haggle, in the parts of town they would rather drive to.

Three ways electricians lose work

01

Rung by the wrong people

If your only marketing is being on Checkatrade, you get the customers who shop on Checkatrade. Ranking properly in the postcodes you want to work in changes who calls.

02

Priced like a commodity

When a customer cannot tell the difference between you and the next name on the list, they choose on price. A wall of certificates, a proper quote and forty recent reviews all remove that problem.

03

Everything depends on you

The diary is full, the margin is thin, and there is nobody to take anything off you. That is a pricing and systems problem long before it is a hiring problem.

Your first ninety days

Month one

Get counted and get found

Your numbers, honestly, including what an hour of you actually costs. Then your Google listing and the directories with your old address on them.

Month two

Get answered

The first five minutes after an enquiry, and a review system that runs without you remembering. Plus NICEIC, NAPIT or your competent-person scheme listing checked and correct.

Month three

Get paid properly

Packaging your work so customers choose how much rather than whether, and then the price rise. Most electricians can raise prices ten percent and lose nobody at all.

“Four of my forty-nine map points were in the top three in March. By July it was thirty-one. I did two things a week, that’s all.”

The directories that matter for electricians

Google Business Profile, Bing and Apple first. Then the trade sites — Checkatrade, TrustATrader, Rated People. And your competent-person scheme: NICEIC, NAPIT, ELECSA or STROMA. Those last ones you appear on because you are registered, so we check you are showing correctly rather than asking you to submit anything.

We keep 392 UK directories, checked and ranked, and we will tell you which handful are worth your time — and which of the rest to ignore completely.

£1 for your first month. Then £49 a month.
