Three things nobody ever does for a business owner

You don’t need another course. You’ve got courses. Here’s what’s actually been missing.

Accountability

Nobody checks.

No manager, no appraisal, no one raising an eyebrow. If the marketing slides for a fortnight, nothing happens. Which is exactly why it slides.

Community

Nobody understands.

You can’t tell your staff the truth about the month. Your mates see the van and assume you’re flying. It’s one of the loneliest jobs in Britain.

Recognition

Nobody says well done.

Employed people get promotions and leaving dos. Owners get a VAT bill. Here the work gets counted — and put on a certificate, and posted to your door.

Here’s exactly what you get

Six things, one login, £49 a month.

The 12 Moves

12

Twelve growth moves, one a month, in the order that actually works. A short lesson, a template, the real jobs that go with it, and a test at the end.

The Campaign Vault

60

Sixty fill-in-the-blanks campaigns, scripts and letters. The quote chase, the review request, the reactivation, the price rise.

The Visibility Map

49

See exactly where your business is invisible on Google Maps across your whole trading area. Scan it whenever you like.

The Citation Builder

392

Three hundred and ninety-two UK directories, checked and ranked. We tell you which ones matter, fill in every field for you, and check you’re still listed.

The Channel Library

12

LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube, cold email, Google Ads and the rest — prescribed, not browsed. We tell you the two to use and the eight to ignore.

The Scoreboard

5

Your revenue, margin, enquiries and conversion rate on one screen. Five minutes on a Sunday.

Who is running this

I have made every mistake on this list

I left school with GCSEs and no plan. At eighteen I was the youngest restaurant manager Burger King had in the UK, and I bought a studio flat in Dorking with the money.

In 2004 I started selling iPod cases from my bedroom. Within weeks I was employing people. Within three years it was turning over more than two million pounds a year. Then I made one bad decision, the business went under, and I came out of it fifty thousand pounds in personal debt at an age when most people are still renting.

What I did next is the reason this club exists. I had no money to pay a marketing agency — I’d already paid several and got nothing back — so I taught myself how to get a business found. In 2009 I started an agency of my own. It grew to ten staff and over a hundred and fifty clients, everything from FTSE 250 companies down to one-van trades.

Twenty years of that teaches you one thing above all else: the businesses that grow are not the ones with the best ideas. They are the ones that keep doing the small things after the enthusiasm wears off. That is the whole reason this is two jobs a week with somebody checking, and not another course you buy and never open.

Everything in The Business Owners Society is something I have done myself, in my own businesses, and can show you the working for.
